The Migrant Health Promotion Golden Lantern Award is presented once a year to an innovative Promotor(a) program within a migrant health center. The award is presented at one of the regional Migrant Stream Forums. The first award was presented at the Midwestern Stream Forum in 2005.
The Promotoras of Migrant Health Promotion selected the name “Golden Lantern.” They believe that the award reflects the ability of Promtores(as) to “show the way” to good health and health care for themselves, their families, and communities.

Congratulations to Quincy Community Health Center whose Promotor(a) program provides an excellent example of the positive impact Promotores(as) and Promotor(a) programs have on migrant workers, their families and communities.
Quincy's Promotor(a) program is both proactive and responsive to the community they serve. The program provides health education and information using popular education methods and in the language that is culturally competent. In addition, Quincy's Promotores(as) conduct community forums to assess the health needs and concerns of their community. The partnership between student Promotores(as) and Quincy Health Center has not only improved the quality of health care services, but is creating the next generation of health care professionals.
